The Hummingbird Moth (Hemaris thysbe) is to me one of the most fantastic insects. The first time I saw one I thought I had stumbled into a another world resembling Alice's Wonderland. I still feel that way whenever I see them feeding on the pollen of the sweet smelling flowers that lure them in.
Armed with my camera and a digital paintbox I am continually tiptoeing on a fine line between illusion and reality.
